At 20, it can be difficult to know which path to take. Life begins to pull us in every direction, and suddenly we are expected to make decisions that feel like they will determine the rest of our lives.
What if I make the wrong choice? What if I take the wrong path? What if I make a decision that I can't come back from?
I’ve had these questions too.
But I’m beginning to understand that life isn't about finding one perfect path. It is something we build as we move through it. Every choice—right or wrong, big or small—shapes the person we become. We are constantly changing, learning, and expanding. Because of that, I believe it would be a waste to allow fear of making the wrong choice to keep us from moving forward.
If we are fortunate, we have people around us who support us, encourage us, and sometimes even help guide us. But ultimately, we have to be willing to take those first steps for ourselves.
As a young Black woman and an architecture student, I think constantly about how I want to move through the world and what I can contribute to the people and communities around me. Architecture has taught me to think about design as more than creating something beautiful. Design can shape how people live, how they interact with one another, and what opportunities are available to them.
That is what makes design meaningful to me.
I believe creativity can be a tool for connection. It can help us communicate, organize, solve problems, and create opportunities for people who may not always have access to the resources or guidance they need.
I know I cannot change the entire world by myself. But I can start with the people around me.
The Creative Blueprint is one of my first steps toward doing that.
Right now, that means creating organization and planning tools for college students who are learning how to balance school, work, responsibilities, and life away from home. But I hope this becomes much bigger than spreadsheets. I want this website to become a place where I can connect with other young people who are curious, creative, ambitious, and still figuring things out.
I don't have all the answers—and I don't think I need to.
I’m learning alongside everyone else.
My hope is that The Creative Blueprint can become a small piece of a larger community: a place where we can share ideas, create tools, encourage one another, and keep looking forward.
This is my beginning.
And maybe it can be yours, too.
